Herringshaw a deserved Clubman of the Year at Presentation Night

Last Saturday evening saw one of the biggest events of December take place as Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz had to play second-fiddle to the Ovington CC Senior Presentation Night & AGM that took place at the Knavesmire pub.

There was plenty to celebrate across the club, not least the First Team winning Division 4 Ebor of the York & District Senior League at the second time of asking. The side only lost one league game all season and were cruelly robbed of a cup upset against New Earswick, given the margin of defeat and the questionable interpretation of the rules on offer.

Liam Herringshaw, long-time secretary of the senior section, was deservedly awarded Clubman of the Year for his service throughout his time in the role. Young Player of the Year was awarded to Finn Baqai, who was a mainstay throughout the first team and picked up his maiden century in the last game of the season, an effort that saw him pick up the “Most Outstanding Performance of the Season” shield.
