The final day of the York Vale League season sees the First and Second teams both in the hunt for honours, with both needing a win. The First Team have a home game on the Little Knavesmire, with the Seconds having a trip to Malton.

With just one game left, the First Team have a home encounter with Stockton & Hopgrove to contend with, who last week made a big step in ensuring their Division One status. The eight point gap between Ovington and nearest challengers Westow remains. Stockton & Hopgrove caused the top-order Ovington line-up some real problems in the first match between the two, when Ovo were 30-4 until they recovered to record a 129 run success. There looks sure to be a fair crowd on the Little Knavesmire with the Third team not having a game. An advanced warning for those who wish to avoid him, is that Sam Prangnell is a confirmed spectator and is on the hunt for any leftover teas on offer.
Ovington’s nearest rivals Westow face a home game against Ben Johnson, which might be the last game for the visitors in their current guise, and given the form-book, a Westow win looks extremely likely. It means a strong performance against Stockton & Hopgrove is a necessity.
There’s also the hunt for honours for the Second Team who will be looking to end the season with a win against Malton & Old Malton. A win guarantees second place and the chance for promotion. With holidays over and most of the team that has played throughout the season back in the line-up, Ovington will be strong favourites against a Malton team with just two wins in 2017.
We want to wish both Ovington teams the best of luck on Saturday, and we hope to see both teams celebrating in the Pub on Saturday evening.
