First team look to exact revenge on Burn for opening day defeat

We’re at the halfway point of the season for the Senior teams as both the First and Seconds are in with a serious chance of promotion. The Third Team also have a battle on their hands, as they need to win one of their next two games to stay in the top six for when the division breaks into two. There is also the matter of a HPH Cup semi-final to contend with.

A huge thank you to our matchday sponsor for Saturday’s home games

Thank you to our former player Stephen Hazell of The French House for sponsoring the home matches this weekend. You can find out more about the Antiques available at on their Facebook page or their website.

The halfway point of the season has been reached and it sees the First Team top of Division One, while the Seconds are 2nd in their division. The First Team have a home match against Burn to contend with, who dished out the only defeat so far this season for the First Team on the opening day of the campaign. They’ll be looking for revenge and they must ensure that they keep winning, as chasing Westow don’t seem to look like losing many games either. It is to be hoped also that the League can be won on the pitch and not due to the weather favouring any one side.

Sunday sees the First Team in action again, in a HPH Cup Semi-Final away at Kelfield. Aiming to retain the trophy for the third successive time, Kelfield away was probably the toughest draw  and travelling to the idiosyncratic ground is always a challenge. The other semi-final consists of Thixendale hosting Westow. Anyone able to go to Kelfield and support the team, I’m sure would be greatly appreciated. Directions to the ground are here – go down the track and there’s parking on the right.

A really big thank you to our new Pavilion Sponsor, JWP Creers

Lots of our sponsors have social media accounts on Facebook/Twitter – especially for all the support they have given the club over the past few months. If you wish, please give them a like/follow.

Saturday sees our other two teams in action – the Seconds are away to Thorpe Willoughby. who also sit towards the top-end of the league table. There is also a match for the Third Team against Stamford Bridge, playing at Millthorpe School. The two teams have played each other twice already this season in cup matches, one of which was abandoned part-way through, and the Thirds will be looking to guarantee their place in the top six with a victory.

On the Junior front, there are also games for the U13’s, both teams playing against Heworth sides. The U15’s face the short trip to Clifton Alliance on Monday, while the U11’s are scheduled for a match against Heworth. If you have any match reports for our Junior sides, please e-mail them in to , joshfletch [at], or send us a message on our Facebook Page
