The cup weekend has come around once again for Ovington’s Senior Sides, as well as a couple of the junior teams. Two of the three senior sides play in the T20 ‘Plate’ competitions, whilst our sole representation in the ‘Senior’ cups comes as the First Team aim to retain their HPH Cup Trophy, facing Clifton Alliance on Sunday.
Many thanks to all our sponsors for the 2017 season. It is most appreciated by all at Ovington CC!
Lots of our sponsors have social media accounts on Facebook/Twitter – especially for all the support they have given the club over the past few months. If you wish, please give them a like/follow.

A quick re-cap of last weekends action for the Seniors and it was a bit of a wash-out, with 2/3 games cancelled due to the weather. Luckily for the First Team, they were able to get their game in against Ben Johnson and it led to a comprehensive victory. Pete Kelly’s 99, Stefan Littlewood’s 51 and Tim Burgess’s 39 led Ovington to a formidable total of 266-8. Ben Johnson’s never really got close and with wickets coming from all angles, including part-time bowlers Pete Kelly and Benji Busby (2 wickets each) – saw Ovington to win with a minimum of fuss.
There wasn’t much success for the Juniors this week, as the U15’s lost two games in two days, while the U9’s were beaten by Acomb, and their B team by Acomb Girls. There was however, a comprehensive win last Friday for the U11’s vs Stamford Bridge.
On to this weekend’s fixtures – with the First Team facing up against Clifton Alliance on Sunday. They make the short-trip for the second time this season and will be hoping that it goes the way of their first encounter, where Ovo were 8 wicket winners. There’s T20 action for the Seconds and Thirds, as they play Melbourne (away) and Malton & Old Malton II (home, on the Little Knavesmire, 2pm start) both on Saturday. Both will be optimistic of their chances of success.
There’s plenty of Junior matches this week coming too, including Cup games for the U13’s. The Foss Evening League side are also at home on Wednesday.
Best wishes to all the Ovo sides this weekend.
