An August Bank Holiday weekend is a nightmare for team selection but it looks like all three Ovington sides will be in action and ensure that another season goes by with all three Saturday senior sides fulfilling their fixtures.
The First Team play against Kelfield at home, in a match that switched venues earlier in the season due to the Knavesmire Pitch Ban. Ovington are no longer in the title hunt after their slim Championship chances were ended by Ben Johnson’s conceding against Bishopthorpe. This match was, for some reason, and in complete disregard of the League rules, switched to a Sunday. The team still have something to play for in a way, as captain Barry Steel aims to remain unbeaten in 2016 as Ovington captain.
Saturday’s game on the Little Knavesmire is Sponsored by Carl Potter Plumbing and Heating – many thanks to Carl for sponsoring this match. Your support is much appreciated.
For the Second Team, a trip to Stillingfleet awaits. The Seconds have an outside chance of getting 3rd but will be looking to keep hold of 4th position, as South Cave & Brantingham are also on the same number of points. The game also offers Ovington’s Andy Cole another opportunity to write a completely 100% truthful and genuine match report.

For the Third Team – they face the trip to Bishop Wilton to play Yapham. The Thirds pulled the game out of the fire in the reverse fixture, when Tom Irwin and Brandon Bishop got Ovington out of trouble. Yapham this time have the in-form Henry Kay, who has taken 12 wickets overall in the past two weeks for only 30 runs, despite being in the Under 13’s and only having played two games in Senior cricket. Ovington may turn to veteran opener Alan Fletcher once again to see off the Yapham bowling, although he is reluctant to play so to protect a 2016 batting average of 29.00
Good luck to all the Ovington teams in action on Saturday.
