In this low scoring affair, both teams struggled to post a meaningful runs total. The Ovington batsmen found themselves unable to deal with the bounce of the pitch, and lost a string of wickets in quick succession, with the consistent bowling Matt Roberston seeing him post impressive figures of 5-1-15-5.
Ralph Sinclair (24) helped steady the Ovington ship, before being caught off the bowling of D Durkin (5-0-16-3). Some stubborn resistance by the lower order saw Ovington edge their way to 72 off their 20 overs.
In reply, Woodhouse Grange started positively, as Jonty Goddard (23) and Dan Robertson (14) added 26 runs for the first wicket, before Goddard fell to Alistair Souch (5-2-19-1). Thereafter, Grange struggled to chase down Ovington’s runs total, with Ralph Sinclair (2-0-8-3) taking 2 wickets in as many balls, narrowly missing out on his hat-trick. The experience of captain Chris Bilton helped see Grange over the line, as they passed Ovington with 4 overs to spare.
Next game is Thixendale away (bit if a trek!).
