Bucket Collection & Bishopthorpe

Lots going on at Ovington tomorrow with the Annual Bucket Collection taking place at the Racecourse and the First Team playing in a crucial encounter against leaders Bishopthorpe.

A quick reminder to all Juniors, Seniors and Parents in regards to our Annual Bucket Collection which is taking place this Saturday the 23rd July. York Racecourse allow us to fundraise outside the Races one day per year and it has been a major contributor to club funds over the past few years. Last year for example, it raised well over £4500.We would like as many club members as possible to participate; Young players must be accompanied by an adult. Whichever junior player collects the most money, will receive a Cricketing related prize.

Our plan for this year is as follows. We will have two fundraising “teams”

Team 1

  • – Meet 4:30pm at the Pavilion.
  • – Fundraise from 5pm-6:15pm.
  • – Return to Pavilion

Team 2

  • – Meet 6pm at the Pavilion
  • – Fundraise from 6:15pm-7:30/7:45pm
  • – Return to Pavilion

You are more than welcome to be part of both teams, and it will seriously help your chances of being “Top Collector”! Last years winner was Alex How who chose a Cricket Bat as his prize.

Get in touch with Fletch if you’re able to help out.

The First Team face Bishopthorpe (ground directions here) in a crucial encounter at Ferry Lane on Saturday afternoon. In recent weeks, Ovington have hit form and with some results having gone their way, alongside beating Burn and Westow in the past two weeks, Ovington are now just 37 points behind the leaders and with 30 points on offer to the winner of tomorrow’s game, a win is vital and can put Ovington in the driving seat for what seemed like an unlikely title challenge only a few weeks ago.

The Second Team, also in the hunt for promotion in Division Two, face Acomb who are missing a few players for tomorrow. This match will take place at Millthorpe School.
