Foss side lose narrowly & Weekly Preview

0

Just one Senior game to catch up on over the past week, where the Foss Evening League side were in action against Woodhouse Grange Academy.

In contrast to last week’s weather, it was a beautiful night on the Little Knavesmire and Woodhouse Grange lost a wicket without a run on the board. 13 year old Jacob Lamb (2-20 from four overs) put in an impressive spell of bowling and had Woodhouse Grange in some trouble at 59-5.  However, a solid partnership of 43 between H.Matthews (50 not out) and Chris Bilton (18) put Woodhouse Grange on the formidable looking total of 119-7.
In reply, batting regulars Stefan Littlewood (20) and Pete Kelly (36) saw Ovington to 40-1, but wickets then fell. Ovington recovered due to Tom Armes’ (29) but the batting collapsed and struggled to score around him. Ovington ran out of batsman and time, falling 14 runs short for the loss of 9 wickets.
On to this weekend now, and the First Team have a free week. Safe travels to those taking the opportunity to go to the England match in Marseille. For the Second Team, they have the short trip to Fulfordgate to contend with. The hosts are yet to win this season, but face an Ovington team on a two game losing run and are missing their Captain, Benji Busby, who has gone to see Little Mix live in concert. For the Thirds, they face Tadcaster Magnets at Millthorpe School
In the Junior teams, the Under 13’s are scheduled to play Acomb on Sunday, with the Under 15’s away at Wetherby (at Grange Park) on Monday. Both games weather permitting. The Foss Evening League side will play Stamford Bridge, away, on Wednesday.
Good luck to all our sides this week.
