Westow win on wind-swept Wednesday

The Foss Evening League side had their first game for a couple of weeks last Wednesday, away at Westow

Ovington opened the batting on a very wind-swept wicket (is it Summer yet?). The Westow bowlers gave very little away in the early stages, with Ovington being restricted to 18 for 1 off the first 5 overs, the pick of the bowlers being Jamie Smith (2-17). However, they were unable to prevent Pete Kelly reaching a stylish 53, who together with Joe Whale (29), added 80 for the 3rd wicket. Ovington finished on 104-4 from their 16 overs.

Westow also struggled in the early stages of their innings, and were at 25 for 3 after their first 5 overs, with Harry Buckley posting impressive figures of 3-13. From that point on M Shipley (48) carried Westow forward, before being caught and bowled by Jed Fowke (1-19). However, it was A Fothergill, who smashed Westow to victory, hitting four 6s in his 44 not out. Westow won by 6 wickets.

Huge thank you to Westow for their hospitality after the game at the Stone Trough.

The next Wednesday evening game is home to Woodhouse Grange Academy, on 8th June.
