Baqai called up to North Yorkshire squad & Weekly Preview

With a dry weekend forecast, it looks like they’ll be a full array of Ovington games taking place at the weekend.

The first good news to report from this week is that Ovington junior Finn Baqai was called-up this week to the North Yorkshire squad for his age-group, to face Cleveland last Thursday. Unfortunately, the match was cancelled due to rain, but many congratulations from the club to Finn for his call-up and we hope he gets his chance again in North Yorkshire colours soon.

For the First Team, they take on Ben Johnson. With the game originally scheduled to take place at home, and with the Little Knavesmire still out of action for York Vale League games, the match will now take place at the University of York. 1:30pm start.

The Second Team face Clifton Alliance, with the game taking place at Barmby Moor. The Seconds also will play their rearranged cup tie away against Burn next Sunday, 5th June.

The Third Team also have two games over the Bank Holiday weekend. They face Yapham II at Millthorpe School on Saturday then face the rearranged cup tie away against Thorpe Willoughby II on Sunday.

The Under 15s, through to the next round of the Cup, have been drawn against Tadcaster – this game will be played on Tuesday. The Under 13s will play on Sunday afternoon vs Londesborough Park.

Other Ovington teams are also in action over the course of the week, including the Foss Evening League side who face a long trip to Westow.
