Ovington Weekly Preview #2

A lot has been going on behind the scenes at the club this past week – and the games due to take place this weekend are still in the balance due to the weather.

The First Team play Westow (away) on Saturday – a team who were promoted from the Second Division last season but seemed to be put in a tidy performance in their respective first game of the season, when beating Stockton & Hopgrove by 90 runs. Westow players such as Mark Earle are always a danger to any side, so it won’t be a game that the First Team can take lightly.

Both the Second and Third teams have changes to the original schedule. The Second Team game will now take place at the University Of York, where they play Askham Bryan. Their opponents this week were victorious last week, but by the fact that Hemingbrough conceded (receiving rather unfair criticism for doing so).

The Third Team, originally scheduled to play against Malton & Old Malton in the cup, have no game this weekend due to Malton conceding on Friday evening. This means that the Third Team now advance to the first round of the Scothern Construction Cup, where they will play Thorpe Willoughby II (away) on the 21st May.

The Under 15’s (in a change to the scheduled fixture, I will amend the fixtures on their individual page) will play Bolton Percy on Monday. The Under 13’s travel to Clifton Alliance on Sunday morning. As previously reported also, the Under 11’s soft-ball team play Pocklington on Tuesday. Other junior fixtures scheduled for the next week will be posted in due course.
