The weather again affected some of the Senior sides at the weekend, but there was some good performances in the first team and also some encouraging performances from the Under 9’s.
The First Team were victorious on a wet Little Knavesmire. Perhaps fortunate to get the game on, they took full advantage by beating Fulfordgate. The visitors set a target of 132. Dom Kitching securing figures of 5-26 in an impressive bowling performance. In reply, Tom Ashby (70*) and Pete Kelly (58) did most of the work in the batting department. The Second and Thirds had no game. The Foss Evening League side, narrowly lost to Stockton & Hopgrove in their first game of the season. Stockton set 106, and Ovington were struggling at one stage being 34-3 off eight overs. They recovered to 80-3, but failed to reach the target in time, losing by 3 runs.
The Under 13’s were victorious on Sunday, although it was because of Malton & Old Malton conceding the game. The Under 15’s continue their quest for a win in the 2015 season, with a heavy defeat against Sheriff Hutton Bridge. Ovington, not helped by one of their players being required mid-match to “help the Police in an investigation”, could only restrict Sheriff Hutton Bridge to 151. Ovington in their reply could only muster 76. Tim Burgess (18) and Ralph Sinclair (18) were top-scorers.
Under 11’s incrediball lost to York on Tuesday, Under 11’s hard-ball beat Dunnington in a comfortable success on Thursday night. The Under 9’s “C” team beat Acomb Girls on Tuesday whilst the Under 9’s “B” lost heavily at Acomb. Under 9’s “A” beat Dunnington “B” on Thursday.
