2014 Chairman’s Report
The Club ran 3 Saturday teams for the 1st time the 3rds played their home games at Millthorpe School. Dick Buckley captained the side, Maurice Bell stood down from the junior and senior committee and as groundsman.
David Cole once again was captain and were runner’s up in cup and in the league. The cup was a big disappointment once again as we lost the final to Bishopthorpe.
Sam Prangnell remained as captain, they finished runner’s up in division three to Wheldrake and also lost the Prendergast Memorial Cup final to Wheldrake.
The Foss Evening League team under the leadership of Benjamin Busby were runner’s up in division 3.
Under 15’s Batting Cup: Will Osborne,
Under 15’s Bowling Cup: Charlie Buckley.
Matthew Hamer Memorial Cup: Montgomery Grenyer.
We ran one team at Under 15’s and one at Under 13’s, two at Under 11’s and three at Under 9’s. We now have over 100 members which the club expects to maintain and improve on in 2015. Although the juniors did not win any awards, the under 11’s lost the hard ball cup final to York. we do have several very good players in most age-groups. These include Op Sorn-In, who has made it on to the “York Hub” Under 15’s, Josephine Osborne, who played for Yorkshire Ladies at under 13’s. Finn Baqai, who played for the York Taveners Under 11’s and is very highly thought of as he was only 10 and has got a place on the Yorkshire pathways scheme.
The juniors collected just over £3,100 at the races in July.
